To produce online publications requires a lot of creativity, therefore it would be a shame to spoil all that with an inferior digital newsletter software package. The most important decision to take when you’re producing an ebrochure is picking your software supplier. They don’t only help you place your content into some nice format. Being simple to use is the key feature to look for. The software could be the most extraordinary you’ve seen – but without being able to use it, it’s not worth anything to you! Be certain to dry run multiple packages before you decide on a provider for your ezine. With spamming and hacking being an issue online, security measures should be your next main priority as you’re producing a digital edition. Do you know what measures are in situ protecting your creation? What about the content? What security measures are in place which keeps people copying and pasting the words?

Have you an outline to sell your digital publication? Ads, social-media, these are sections which need to be covered never mind what marketing model is being used. Marketing the online catalog will likely need search engine appropriate content.

Will it allow for paid content? You should think whether you can offer a variety of subscriptions. Will you be commercializing your content ? Will you be providing summaries to sell your magazine? What’s the accessibility of your catalog? If it’ll be private you can investigate several hosting options or is it public? In that case you will probably be best hosting directly with your vendor. What is your plan with back copies?

Some workarounds you want to look at in advance i.e. ahead of actually having to go for them. What is the level of technical support? How are their FAQs? Are there handy “fix-it” tips which you can actually use? If a response time isn’t mentioned ask about it. Is there an email address which is easy to access? Technical support might be your last consideration but it should be a decisive factor in your choice. When you’ve resolved on creating a digital publication such as an electronic catalog, choosing the right digital publishing software vendor will determine the whole success of the business. Consider your choice so you will genuinely succeed.

It's distressingly simple to spoil even the most creative online brochure, no matter what energy has been put into it, if you have a low grade of digital brochure package. When you're determined to make an online publication the key decision is to select the software vendor. It's not about merely formatting your creation prettily - indeed this is a crucial choice because it may easily mean the difference between success of failure for your venture.

Ruining even the best digital brochure is too easy, even after putting all your effort into it, if you have a low grade of digital brochure package. In fact, picking a software supplier is the most important decision you’ll take when you make an ezine. They do much more than simply help you place your content into a pleasant format.

One of the most crucial characteristics to look for is, obviously, simplicity of use. The software package could be the most extraordinary you’ve seen – but without being able to actually use it, it’s worth nothing to you… Before deciding on a provider for your electronic magazine, make sure to test it. The second big piece of preparation you’ll need to do is safeguarding security. The second thing on your list to think about are hackers and spammers. Is there security placed to secure the account? What security steps are in place to stop people from merely copy-pasting your words?

Has a business plan been produced yet? Ads, social-media, these are things which ought to be covered no matter which marketing plan is being used. Up to date marketing techniques mean considering search engine requirements when editing your content.

Is your content only going to be freely accessible? How about offering only copy and multiple subscription options? Will you be commercializing your content in any way? How about providing teasers and summaries to sell the magazine? What’s the accessibility of your ebrochure? Will it be private in which case you’ll be able to look into all your hosting possibilities or will it be public? In that case you should host directly with your vendor. Have you examined how you will deal with back-issues? Some solutions you really should look at in advance before you actually need to go for them. What’s the tech support like? What quality is their FAQ page? Are there a good amount of “fix-it” tips which you can actually use? Do they publish their response time? How well manned is their tech-support line? Tech support might be the last consideration but it needs to be a decisive factor in your choice of provider.

Your skills are being tested – select cautiously! Lacking the best host your publication won’t flourish as well as it could.

Before you think about writing an article, stop and think for a minute about why people read Ezines. Think about what I said in the last section.

Readers are looking for content and you must make sure you deliver quality information.

They are not looking to be sold something so make sure your article is not a sales letter in disguise.

So, where do you start?

Brainstorm Topics for Your Article

Browse through a few newsletters, go to a few discussion boards in your field. What seems to be the hot topic right now? What are people excited about? What type of questions are they asking? Any of these can give you a great idea for a compelling article.

Remember, the best types of articles are those that solve a problem for the reader or inform them of new developments in the field.

Take a few minutes to brainstorm some ideas for your target market.

What problems are they facing that you might be able to help them with?

What is going on in the news that might impact them personally?

What tips would you give to someone just getting started in your field?

What are some of the obstacles you’ve overcome in getting your business going and how did you do it?

If you notice, a lot of these questions can be turned into simple bullet points for an article. You do not have to be a writer to create good material! You just have to have useful information that people need.

Ok, so now you’ve got an idea for your article. You should have one focal point around which you want to build your copy.

Write 3-5 major points based on your subject.

You need to break your subject into a few sub points. By dividing your article into sections like this, it will make the article flow much better. This will also help keep you focused. This is important because the length of your article should really stay around 500 words.

Keep in mind as you’re writing your sections, you are still trying to create an emotional response in the reader. Make your copy as interesting as possible. Be creative! It’s certainly not a requirement, but if you have the ability to come at an old topic with a new angle, by all means, do it!

Now, write out a few sentences in each section supporting your point. Stories or quotes on the topic are also effective.

Think of a title for your article.

I suggest you reread the section on Creating Attention Grabbing Headlines. In whatever medium you use, a headline can make or break your success. Remember that!

Draw your conclusion or leave the reader with a final thought on the topic.

Create Your Resource box

This is where you place your name, contact info, and website address. You should also include a few benefit phrases along with your links. These are most effective if they coincide with what your article is about. Also, make sure a person can simply click on your link and be taken to your website or email address.

Once you’ve finished your article, read it aloud and make sure it’s ready to be submitted. Let it sit for a whole day and then go back and read it again. You should specifically check for:

A logical sequence to the piece. You want to take the reader from beginning to end in an easy to understand sequence. You want your article to flow smoothly.

Make sure the writing is informal and easy to follow. Write like you would speak to someone.

Do a spell check. Sounds simple, but it’s amazing how easily you can forget this step.

Make sure your lines are 65-characters in length and no longer.

Make sure your resource box is separated from the article by a border. This really makes it stand out. Your resource box needs to be very eye catching. Remember, this is the only link to your website.

Email your article to teammates or friends and ask them to give you some feedback. It always helps to get a few other opinions.

Don’t worry about your style of writing as much as getting your point across. If you have good information with average writing skills, readers will read your article. If you have excellent writing skills but poor information, you won’t get very far. Focus on the content!

Greeting fellow online article writers today I was contacted by one of us online article submission site writers and he asked me;

Lance how do you keep up the pace or cadence of article postings surely these articles were pre-written right?

No, they are not the last 3,000 articles in fact are total 100% new content and fresh, as I write them in real time and post them in batches of ten or more depending on my mood or time that day.

You swear to God?

Yes, I swear to your concept of God if that makes you happy, whichever one you choose is fine with me, silly humans, those are fresh content articles.

Well, Lance how do you know how many articles to write each day?

Well, I simply pick a number which is fairly close the number I am on which is a multiple or has mathematical significance or is a round number or cool looking number. For instance if I am on 6969, I pick 6996 or if I am on 7000 I might pick 7111 or 7108 because 7 + 1 = 8. Or I might pick 7321 because 7 X 3 = 21. Or I might pick 7177 or 7117 or 7171. You see what I mean?

That is really interesting Lance, but I only have written 140 articles and so can I also use your method of doing by the numbers?

Sure, consider that 140 is close to 144, which is 12 X 12 =144. Then also 150 is a very round number too and once you get to there 151 is a symmetrical number right? You see what I mean you can do this too. Consider all this in 2006.

Renaming the FrameMaker Books

Think twice before changing the name of a FrameMaker book file especially if the book includes TOC, index, List of Figures (LOF) and List of Tables (LOT) files.

Because when you try to compile a new PDF book file, FrameMaker will try to locate the newly-named versions of the TOC, IX, LOT, and LOF files.

When it can’t find them, it will refuse to create a PDF book.
You will have to re-create those TOC, IX, LOT and LOF files to compile the PDF file of the newly-named book.

Images disappear in PDF?

You save your FM document as PDF but the images in anchored frames disappear. All you get is blank frames.

Solution?

Select File > Preferences > General and check the Save FrameImage with Imported Graphics check-box.

Re-generate the PDF and all your images should be there.

Installing new or missing fonts for FM

1) Save (or extract) the fonts to a folder on your system.

2) Go to your Windows Control Panel > Fonts screen.

3) From the menu, select File > Install New Font… to display the Add Fonts dialog box.

4) Find the folder in which you have saved the desired font. Select it and make sure it appears in the List of Fonts list box. Make sure the Copy fonts to Fonts folder check-box is checked.

5) Click OK.

6) When you open your FM document, you should see the new font listed when you select Format > Font from the main menu.

(The new font should be accessible from other Windows applications like Photoshop as well.)

———————————————

This year holds a record by the amount of the storms and hurricanes – there were more than 25 storms and more than 14 hurricanes, which hold their own names, and which ruined many houses, killed many people and brought many problems and afflictions to the world community.

Many companies became insolvent, others incurred enormous expenses; people lost their homes and families, communications were broken down too (including Miami International airport). Hurricane Wilma was the 3rd this year identified as a hurricane of the 5th category (the winds peed was more than 260 km/h) and damaged the most United States of America, Cuba and Mexico (USA declared that the damage from Wilma’s destructions can total 9 billion dollars). The approximate amount of deaths equals to 60 (USA – 35, Haiti – 12, Mexico – 8, Cuba – 4 and Jamaica – 1) . Commonly, strong hurricanes destroy the cities’ infrastructure, including power and water supply. Wilma was not the exclusion and it left more than 3 million people without power in Florida for 3 or 4 weeks.

This paper is devoted to the research of Wilma’s effect on the Florida power supply and its provider – Florida Power and Light company. This company belongs to FPL group as its subsidiary, which year revenues make up over $10 billion and operates within 26 states.

It’s not a secret for anybody that FPL incurred large expenses because Wilma destructed approximately 10 thousand concrete power poles from about 1 million, which were designed to “stand up to winds of 119 mph” , caused more than 2 hundred substations out of order and left 75 percent of FPL consumers without power (3.2 million people out of 4.2). The most affected counties are the following: Miami-Dade (over 950 thousand), Broward (over 860 thousand), Palm-Beach (over 660 thousand), Lee (over 190 thousand) and Collier (over 165 thousand). Other counties suffered too but not so significantly. For this reason FPL officials seriously discussed the possibility of removing power supply underground but this measure was recognized as economically inefficient because it can result in price growth on power supply for Florida population up to 50 percent. So underground infrastructure can not be taken seriously and FPL company claimed that they will analyze the situation and make a decision on improving the safety and the reliability of its service. In 2004 there was also a large amount of hurricanes and storms affected Florida’s power supply chain but Wilma’s destructions were the largest from the whole FPL’s history. FPL has a good experience of restoring its poles but this time it faced a huge problem. Nobody expected such damage from Wilma hurricane.

Restoration process

So how Florida Power and Light company dealt with the consequences of a hurricane?

Of course restoration works began immediately and among other steps there was a toll-free phone number establishment for receiving complains from the consumers. It is a very rational decision because 3 million people were interesting when they will have the opportunity to use their electrical appliances – refrigerators, microwave ovens, laundry washers, computers an so on. People did not even have the opportunity to charge their mobile phones. During the restoration process it was a common situation when people from the same street received electricity not on the same day because their houses used different substations and some people even became panic-stricken.

Another good decision adopted by FPL is developing a restoration map and placing it on their website. This map allowed people to find their county, get to know when the restoration works in their county will be finished and make a complaint if some lines were not restored on time for some reasons. But the one thing which FPL’s team may not taken into consideration that most of their clients do not have the opportunity to turn on their PC’s or notebooks and access FPL’s website via the Internet. There was other useful information on the website placed also – such as how to check if your house was not connected to the supply change while other houses down the street already connected.

The restoration works included the exposure of broken poles, wires, substations and removal of their malfunctions. Of course it took much time, efforts and costs but within 4 weeks and a half FPL finished restoration of its poles and substations, and now all its consumers have light in their houses.

Economic and social effects of hurricane Wilma on Florida Power and light company

FPL group reported its 3rd quarter earnings on 4th November, 2005. Many people and organizations (especially FPL’s investors) were waiting for this report because this report can include a part of expenditures related to the restoration works after hurricane Wilma. So FPL reported $339 million ($0.87 per share) of net income, including “net unrealized after-tax loss of $56 million associated with the mark-to-market effect of non-qualifying hedges.”. This loss decreased earnings per share from $1.01 down to $0.87. But company stated that hurricane’s resulted only $0.02 per share loss and that hurricane Wilma’s costs are not included in this quarter report. An interesting fact that the losses of FPL company can be much more significant because general accepted accounting principles allow to share losses within several periods and thus it would not be a great surprise that the 4th quarter 2005 and 1st (may be in 2nd too) 2006 earnings reports would contain million dollars of “net unrealized after-tax loss.”

Moreover, FPL can not calculate all the expenditures concerned with hurricane Wilma and its destructions so fast (within a month or even a quarter). Unofficially, restoration costs assessed up to $200 million. Nevertheless, the 3rd quarter results in 2005 are better than the same of 2004 and company’s CEO claims that the FPL group’s earnings meet the satisfaction criteria. The CEO presumes that despite such losses the FPL group will fulfill the plan and its earnings will reach $2.5 per share for the year 2005. Additionally, 3rd quarter results are better than 2nd quarter and company relates it to favorable weather conditions.

So FPL’s investors still do not know how much losses caused hurricane Wilma and how it will affect their income this year. But the fact is that FPL’s emergency fund was completely exhausted within the period. Of course company will try to fulfill the expenditures by including some fee into their consumers’ accounts, receiving some insurance money or receiving some State subsidy from the government. Of course all these events make certain instability on the main world stock exchanges.

Moreover, these events caused many protests, investigations and demands for payments. Some people insist that FPL can not fulfill its social liabilities and provide quality power supply and thus there were suggestions to break FPL’s monopoly on the Florida market; politicians offer to check other vital industries if they are ready to face such trials as FPL did. So on account of a serious outage FPL is under a strong pressure from the side of society, investors and the government now.

People sue the company and their amount grows from day to day. Consequently if the court will decide that FPL has to compensate damages and losses to the plaintiffs it, probably, can become bankrupt because if all those people and organizations suffered from the outages would bring an action against the FPL the amount of refunds can be estimated in billions. The possibility of numerous suits is quite high because the main newspapers and reporters unleashed a scandal already and the society is anxious about this issue. Many people complained that FPL did not adequately response to their appeals during the year – many poles were not in perfect condition and needed a repairing and thus there could much less damage. Of course it is not fair to consider FPL to be completely liable for enormous outage. But it is the fact that company neglected several complaints and is responsible for the damage which could be avoided.

From the report it is known that about 10 thousand poles were damaged out of 1 million and this caused 75 percent outage. So it can be concluded that the most important poles were damaged while this is intolerable. I think that the most important elements of infrastructure must be fortified and stable enough because power supply is vital for modern society – hospitals, airports, factories, schools etc can not operate without power supply.
Obviously, FPL was not ready to face such a disaster as Wilma hurricane, which forced the company’s business on the knees, and it has to think about such consequences and make necessary decisions to avoid future problems. The society rightly expects serious actions to be taken from Florida Power and Light company, and no break-power in future.

Most of us have suffered from writer’s block, feelings of self-doubt, and just general worry about whether or not we can make it as a writer in the real world. Often when one or more of these things becomes a problem it can cause us to stop writing, sometimes to give it up all together. We may let our internal editor, or our parent(s), spouse, friends whomever win when it comes to our writing, or maybe we are successful in a financial sense but our writing has become about requested projects, and meeting the deadline. In short writing the thing we love becomes a chore rather than a joy. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Here are 10 techniques you can use right now to rediscover your writing bliss.

1. Give your creativity another outlet occasionally. For example take a ceramics, watercolor, or beading class. Learn to be creative in other ways besides writing. You’ll be amazed at how much this enriches your writing as well as your life in general.

2. Write something completely different from what you normally do. Are you a novelist? Write something non-fiction like an article or report instead. You might just discover a whole new way to look at your writing. If you normally write non-fiction try your hand at a short story or poem.

3. Take a field trip. Get in your car or ride the bus somewhere you’ve never been before, maybe a part of town that has little shops, art galleries, or a large park where you can follow a stream or river and just ruminate.

4. Go for a walk, at least 30 minutes long. Take a camera along with you and snap pictures of people, trees, flowers, or anything that catches your eye. You might see something you can use later in your writing.

5. Remember those pictures you took on your walk? Make copies or a second set of prints and use them in freeform collage (see my article Using Freeform Collage to Boost Creativity).

6. Create what I fondly call a “bitch list”. During those times when it seems like you just aren’t getting the support you need from your significant other, friend, or relative, or maybe even your co-workers sit down and write out a list of all the things they’ve done, or said which are bugging you. Use this opportunity to throw a mental temper tantrum, let your inner child out and allow him/her to have a good pitch objects, screaming meanie fit. No one needs to see your list. If you are a spiritual person you can even use this opportunity to say a prayer for change, burn the list in a fireproof dish, then let the wind have the ashes (make sure they are completely cool before doing this). It’s amazing how cathartic this can be when you are feeling frustrated and mad.

7. Remember crayons and coloring books? I’ve always thought it was a shame that we leave such things behind once we’re supposedly grown. This technique requires you to find pictures you like, these can be family photos, drawings from books, or pictures from magazines. Once you find them make black and white copies and keep them in a folder or three ring binder for those days when you are not feeling supported as a writer. When it’s time, pick one of the pictures and color it in with crayons, colored pencils or even paints. Play some relaxing music while you’re at it. I think you will find the act of doing this will help your writing mind to come up with new ideas, as well as help you to feel nurtured and supported.

8. Take a candlelit bath or shower. I personally prefer a bath for this exercise, but a shower can work too. Depriving some of your senses by taking away artificial light allows the mind to relax and quiet down, and hence allows the space for new ideas.

9. Watch a movie that has information on your current writing topic. If you are a novelist watch a movie in your genre. I’m not suggesting you steal someone else’s idea, but merely that you may come up with a new angle on your story by watching what someone else has created. If you write non-fiction you can still do this by finding a documentary on your topic, or even a fictional movie. It’s amazing how you can get ideas about your own project just by watching someone else’s angle on the same topic.

10. Create a list of ideas. Maybe coming up with ideas to write about is a problem? If so during those times when you are feeling especially full of ideas make a list of topics to write about or plots for stories or both. Then when you are feeling as if you will never write again you can pull this list out and use it to move on to another project. You can also do this during a particularly large and frustrating project, some ideas will require less work to complete than others. You could pick one of your ideas and write an article just so you have that feeling of having completed something while you’re still working on your larger project.

I have used all of these techniques to help me get back into my writing bliss, and they all work. Even if you choose to only try one or two of these ideas I know you will rediscover your writing bliss in no time!

There’s no doubt that writing articles can help in building your online profile, backlinks and traffic. It seems to me though as an Article Directory site owner that many authors are being very short sighted when it comes to the resource box at the foot of the article, and for a couple of reasons.

Every day I see Resource Boxes with something like the following:-

Fred Bloggs is a top internet marketer and can show you how to make a fortune with his methods. Visit his web site at (embedded site url)Make Your Million Here.

Now what’s wrong with this you might ask. Well, it may well get into Article Directories, but as authors you are ignoring a very valuable second opportunity for publication – and one that is exponential. That second source is the publication market. I would suggest to you that an article with a resource box like that is going to have little chance of being picked up for further publication. Secondly, if it was, it has an embedded url link which will not appear in an ezine or web page anyway. Remember, the deal for publishers is to publish the article intact and that doesn’t mean adding the html code to keep the link working.

A far better way of doing your resource box is along these lines:-

Fred Bloggs is a proud contributing author and writes articles on several subjects including internet marketing. You can see more of Fred’s articles on his web site at An Innocuous Titled Site located at http://www.somesite.com.

This doesn’t try and “sell” anything, it is leading people to a link. The http full address in addition to the embedded link, keeps the url intact in the event of publication elsewhere.

These are certainly my thoughts having reviewed well over 1,000 articles now, but I would love to hear other suggestions to how best to word a resource box.

Ric Raftis is a keen author who runs two article directories and reviews many articles each day. You can see more of his articles at Best Content Articles at http://www.best-content-articles.com

Here are some commonly misused words, and some examples to avoid repeating the same mistakes in your own writing, and speaking. Have fun.

1. affect/effect Affect-to change an outcome/ Effect-the result of change or an event. Ex. The effect of the chili was not felt until the next day. It affected me the most. Memory tip- we can affect the effect.

2. accept/except Accept- to agree or receive something. except- to leave something out. Ex. I once saw a website that encouraged me to “except” Christ. They had meant accept (to receive Christ, not except, to leave Christ out!).

3. anymore/ any more Anymore- an adverb meaning now. Any more-signifies something extra. Ex. “I won’t eat doughnuts anymore,” I announced. Ed jumped up and said, “I will go and make sure there aren’t any more in the house.”

4. already/all ready All ready- meaning all set Already-meaning something has taken place. Ex. I am all ready for a vacation. In fact, I have already packed.

5. percent/percentage Percent-use percent when the number is omitted. Percentage-use when the number is known. Ex. Sixty percent off sure sounded like a good deal. What percentage of the purchase was within your budget?

6. bad/badly Bad-bad is an adjective it describes nouns or pronouns. Badly- is an adverb that describes verbs or answers the question how. Ex. Ten of the twelve scouts brought back a bad report from the Promised Land. (Bad-report). Only Joshua and Caleb did not speak badly about what they had seen. (Badly- speak) Important note: In English, it seems, there are always exceptions. Use bad with verbs of the five senses. Looked bad, feels bad, sounds bad, tastes bad, smells bad, etc.

7. can/may Can-means “is able to” May-”asks permission to” Ex. Max Lucado can write well. May I get a chance to talk with him?

8. farther/further Farther- use farther to denote physical distance. Further- use further to denote more or to a greater extent. Ex. I swam farther than Judy did. The mustard stain gave further proof that Donna had eaten the evidence. Memory tip: There is a “far” in farther, therefore use farther for distance.

9. fewer/less Fewer-use fewer when the amount can be counted. Less-use less when something cannot be defined. Less sense, less courage etc. Ex. Do we have fewer than ten people present? I had less fear about the situation than I did last year.

10. good/well Good is an adjective it describes nouns or pronouns. Well is usually an adverb that describes verbs and answers the question how. Pete makes good Italian dishes. However, he doesn’t always clean up well afterwards. Important note: Again, with the five senses good would be used. Looked good, smells good, etc. Also note: with health use well, since it is the opposite of sick. After overeating at the buffet, I didn’t feel well.

11. hopefully This is an adverb meaning “full of hope”. This has become an overused word. Do not use hopefully when it has no verb to modify. To test, substitute “full of hope” to see if the sentence makes sense. Hopefully, I waited by the mailbox. (Hopefully modifies how I waited, this is correct) Hopefully, the phone will ring with an offer. (In this case the phone cannot be full of hope. A better sentence would be; I hope my phone will ring with an offer.

12. its/it’s Its is a possessive pronoun showing possession of something. “It’s” is a contraction of it is. Ex. The Husky held fiercely onto its end of the “tug of war” rope. It is just too expensive, or it’s just too expensive. Memory tip: Possessive its never splits.

13. nauseous/nauseated Nauseous is an adjective meaning to cause nausea or disgust. Nauseated is a verb meaning to feel sick or nauseous. If you say you feel nauseous, it actually means you make others sick when they come in contact with you! You should say: I feel nauseated. The smell of sewerage is making people nauseous.

14. regardless/irregardless Regardless of what you’ve been taught, “irregardless” is not Standard English.

15. than/then Use than to show comparison. Use then to show time. Ex. Ed said that he was definitely wiser than Pete. I wonder what happened then?

16. their/there/they’re “Their” is a possessive pronoun. There shows place, and can begin a sentence. “They’re” is a contraction of they are. Ex. Their car is awesome. They’re going to give me a ride. What a way to get there.

17. to/too/two “to” helps the form of the verb. I.e. To shout, to sing, to praise God’s name. “Too” means also. “Two” is of course, the number two. Ex. I asked to go along. Yolanda said I could go too. However, she said there were two conditions.

18. your/you’re Your is a possessive pronoun. “You’re” is the contraction of you are. Ex. I had never seen your car before. Now I understand why you’re always running late! Memory tip: Possessive your, only four (letters).

Are you ready for your business to be noticed by hundreds even thousands daily? It’s true more and more online newsletter publishers and website owners are looking for fresh original articles. They need your insightful information. Even so, the group of article marketers is also growing.

Glenn Murray, popular website copywriter of DivineWrite.com wrote in recent SiteProNews article, “As a result of its newfound mainstream popularity, the number of articles being written and submitted has increased by between 100% – 600% in the past year!”

With all this growth there is a need to distinguish yourself in the group. My best advice is to write articles that solve a problem for your targeted audience. Write the solution. Write each article with a theme, problem and solution.

For example, there are other marketers like you and me who need a solutionan easy way to get free traffic, become an expert in their field, get free publicity, reach thousands at a time, promote their book, business or service. These marketers are looking for ways to make their information easy to digest and easy to apply. Here are eight more formats to write your easy articles and make them go the extra mile:

1.	Short, Short Article. This article has gained popularity among article marketers because it delivers bite-sized information. A lot of directories have added a category for the 500 word article. Get and keep the attention of web readers by delivering short messages. You put effort into gaining your web reader’s attention; now make their click worthwhile with brief compelling copy in bite sizes.

Start with the conclusion. Your readers may not make it to the end of your piece the point early and use the rest of your article to support that main point.

2.	Action Oriented Article. I used to not like watching most talk-shows. I complained that they did a good job with presenting the problem but no one offered solutions. Times have changed for most talk-shows present the problem then present some form of solution.

The same goes for articles. Make it a practice to present the problem then seek to engage your reader with an action toward the solution. For example, a client of mine wrote an article about time management. One of her main points was set a schedule. To engage her readers she included a one line fill in the blank schedule M___T___W___.

3.	Command Tip Article. Most will say they don’t like being told what to do. But our human psyche seems to respond in spite of what we like. The command has an immediate effect. Why? It connects with the “Yes, I want that” spot within us all. Commands reassure us that helpful advice will follow. Advice that helps us get what we want. It tells the readers it’s possible to achieve the benefit the author is claiming. Start each tip with a command such as ‘Do this’, Write this, Implement that. Then direct them to put the tip into action.

4.	Mistake Tip. Wise people love to be warned of the mistakes and pitfalls in any field so they don’t have to learn them the hard way. In college days, the smart students were not necessarily the most popular. The popular ones were those who gave out tips freely. I had a college friend that was popular for this reason.

She tipped you about what professor to sign-up for in a hurry because their classes filled up fast. She tipped you about the class and the professor to try to avoid. She tipped you where to go eat cheap. So create popularity for your business write a Top 5 Mistakes in your field. One of my website client’s most popular articles includes “Top 5 Site Mistakes That Drive Your Customers Away in Less Than 2 Minutes.”

5.	Interview Article. Choose a reputable expert to interview and offer their best problem/solution tips. Do this format in the question and answer format via email. Choose specific questions that will give your audience specific solutions to their problems. Don’t forget to make this format go the extra mile for you by using the content on your website, blog and/or ezine.

6.	Review Article. Find your favorite resource, product or website that helps accomplish something in your field. Do a review of that resource. Does it make life easier? Does it enable you to complete faster. For example, you could review a product on a scale of one to ten. Does it rate a ten, eight or seven in your book? Rate the product in your article then explain the glowing things it has done for you through experience. Don’t forget to include any downsides of the product. Your audience will appreciate your honest appraisal.

7.	Favorite Resource Article. I love this format. It can be similar to the Top ten cds or the Top 20. You know at the end of each year many television shows will air their top 10, 20 even top 50. Well in the case of your article, you can schedule it around the holidays or some other special occasion. I’ve seen some web developers publish a top 20 to celebrate their birthday. Choose your celebration and write a top ten list of resources in your field. List the resource and a mini-review including why it made your top 20 list.

8.	Success Story Article. Success stories are always great for sales. Why? Because results move people. Nothing that I know of will get people to pull out their card better than a success story. Your audience will instantly say, “If he can do it then I can do it.” Gather some success stories and publish them as a case study article. Or better yet write your own success story with details that will cause your sales to soar. Your audience wants to gleam encouragement from your success. For example, a client’s website jumped from a mere $20 to $1500 in just 3 months. Even with a modest success, his readers would love to know what he did so they can do it too.

Don’t wait any longer! If you wait to choose an article format your traffic may never increase. Choose a format for your insightful information and write your article today. Remember, there’s an Information Revolution raging online. Why not jump in before it’s too late. Start with writing a short, short article to promote your ezine, website, product or service. Your readers have been waiting for your expertise. Now just do it. Best wishes for your greatest success yet.
